Even when you are an insider and have studied cosmetic science professionally for years like me, it's still daunting.

• Know if your skincare is mostly synthetic or natural (are you in for a shock?!)

• Decide if it's worth your money

• Know where to research ingredients like a pro

• Flag "green bashing" (untruthful green claims)

• Make better consumer choices
